What is reflexology?

Reflexology is an ancient practise originating from Egypt, India, and China, which made its way to the Western World thanks to Dr. William Fitzgerald's pioneering work in the early 1900s.  He introduced 'Zone Therapy' which emphasized the connection between reflex areas on the hands and feet and various organs and areas of the body within the same zone.

Reflexology is a gently, non-invasive complementary therapy that works on the principle that specific areas (or "reflexes") on the feet, hands and face correspond to different organs and systems within the body.

By applying gentle, precise pressure to those reflex points, reflexology encourages deep relaxation, helps to relieve tension, and supports the body's own natural healing processes.  Its often used to support wellbeing, reduce stress, improve sleep, and restore a sense of emotional and physical balance.

Clients often report feeling, calmer, more grounded and more 'themselves' after a session.

Reflexology is not a massage.  It's a common misconception, but reflexology is not the same as a massage.  While both use touch, massage focuses on manipulating muscles and soft tissue.  Reflexology, on the other hand, targets the nervous system and internal organs through pressure points - it's about precision and balance, not deep pressure or muscle manipulation.

If you're looking for a strong, therapeutic foot massage, I can tailor your treatment to include that alongside reflexology - just let me know when booking and see the treatment and prices page on the website for more information.
